Unit 3 - Day 1

Unit 3

Day 1

Daily Objective: Inverse sine, Inverse cosine, and Inverse tangent.

The Inverse Sine, Inverse Cosine, and Inverse Tangent functions are used to find the sides on a triangle. These sides can be useful to know if you are finding the area of a triangle.

COSINE
TANGENT

Quiz

1. Using Figure 1 and the sine function, find angle x.

2.Using Figure 2 and the cosine function, find angle x.

3.Using Figure 3 and the tangent function, find angle x.

Answers

1.To find side x for problem 1, you are going to use the sine function. First you take the 7 and divide that by the 14 and you'll end up with .5. Then you take that by the sine-1 function and that will give you your final answer of 30 degrees.
2. This problem is just like the first except that you are going to use the cosine function. You first have to divide 14 by 23. Then take the number you just got from that and press the cosine-1 button and your angle ends up being 31.33 degrees.
3. Lastly, for this problem you will be using the tangent-1 function. First divide the 3 by the 10 and that will leave you with .3. Then take that .3 and use the tangent-1 function and your angle is 16.7 degrees.
